The Twelve

A stress-testing roster for field operations tooling. Deliberately weighted toward operators who refuse, break or abandon software, because that's what surfaces requirements early.

The operators are RLSH and volunteer patrol networks — people who go out under a callsign, on their own time, with no agency behind them. The roster was built against street outreach work, which is what most of them are actually doing when they're out. Four of the twelve are RLSH-native as written — the Ghost, the Skeptic, the Protest Medic, the Public Face — and the rest hold because it's the same night.

Structured on zodiac cusp pairings (element + modality) as the Archangel Agency class convention. The astrology is scaffolding; the requirements are the point.

The twelve

1. Cusp of Rebirth — Pisces (Water Mutable) + Aries (Fire Cardinal)

The Convert. Formerly unhoused, now working the same blocks where she slept. Knows which shelters actually take people who are using.

"I want to add what I know without anyone asking who I am or how I know."

→ Requires: standing that accrues through contribution alone, with no social history and no permission. Anonymous contribution paths. A build that runs on a prepaid Android 8 with 400MB free.

2. Cusp of Power — Aries (Fire Cardinal) + Taurus (Earth Fixed)

The Team Lead. Runs a nine-person crew. Feels responsible if anyone gets hurt.

"I want to see who's out and know they got home."

→ Requires: team-scoped presence and op views that work without imposing a hierarchy on operators who aren't in his crew. Oversight as an opt-in others grant, not an authority he holds.

3. Cusp of Energy — Taurus (Earth Fixed) + Gemini (Air Mutable)

The Quartermaster. Owns the storage unit. Tracks socks, water, hygiene kits, sizes.

"I want to know what we handed out so I know what to restock."

→ Requires: supply signals that tolerate several people editing offline at once, and resolve without a merge UI.

4. Cusp of Magic — Gemini (Air Mutable) + Cancer (Water Cardinal)

The Connector. Knows everyone in four cities. Makes introductions.

"I want to tell Phoenix that Raven's coming through next month."

→ Requires: cross-city presence and travel visibility. Also the reason op detail must be scoped deliberately — he shares generously, because connecting people is his contribution.

5. Cusp of Oscillation — Cancer (Water Cardinal) + Leo (Fire Fixed)

The Heart. Gives everything for six weeks, then vanishes for three months.

"I want to come back after a break without a wall of guilt."

→ Requires: missed check-in nudges the team, never declares an emergency. No activity streaks, no absence commentary, no re-entry friction. Duress is always deliberate, never inferred from silence.

6. Cusp of Exposure — Leo (Fire Fixed) + Virgo (Earth Mutable)

The Public Face. Large following, films everything, brings in donations.

"I want to share what we did tonight."

→ Requires: a shareable artifact that's safe by construction — his own record, scrubbed of teammates' callsigns and positions. Give him something designed to leave the app, or he'll screenshot something that shouldn't.

7. Cusp of Beauty — Virgo (Earth Mutable) + Libra (Air Cardinal)

The Medic. First aid and harm reduction. Precise, careful.

"I want the naloxone supply list and the nearest ER that won't call police."

→ Requires: volatile data always shows its age; stale reads "call first." Playbook content good enough to stake an outcome on. Nothing in the app that could hold a recipient's medical detail.

8. Cusp of Drama & Criticism — Libra (Air Cardinal) + Scorpio (Water Fixed)

The Skeptic. Twelve years in. Watched three apps come and go, and two people get doxxed.

"Show me exactly what leaves my phone or I'm not installing it."

→ Requires: every network call explainable and auditable via proxy. No analytics, no third-party telemetry. Documented data tiers, and an honest inventory of what the node holds. Push only where he opted into escalation paging himself. Win him and adoption follows.

9. Cusp of Revolution — Scorpio (Water Fixed) + Sagittarius (Fire Mutable)

The Protest Medic. Street medic and legal observer at demonstrations.

"I need this to be useless to anyone who takes my phone."

→ Requires: panic wipe that truly destroys the wipeable tier while preserving identity. No retained position history to subpoena. Discreet app name and icon.

10. Cusp of Prophecy — Sagittarius (Fire Mutable) + Capricorn (Earth Cardinal)

The Trainer. Teaches de-escalation and bystander intervention.

"I want new people to arrive already knowing the ground rules."

→ Requires: versioned playbooks with real authorship, and a contribution path good enough that he'd put his own material in.

11. Cusp of Mystery & Imagination — Capricorn (Earth Cardinal) + Aquarius (Air Fixed)

The Ghost. Patrols alone. No team, no shared callsign, no position, ever.

"I want the knowledge. I want to give nothing back."

→ Requires: every social feature has an off switch, and the app is fully useful with all of them off. Visibility defaults private. No prompt ever pressures him toward a team.

12. Cusp of Sensitivity — Aquarius (Air Fixed) + Pisces (Water Mutable)

The Outpost. Small town, two hours from the nearest peer, one bar of signal.

"I want it to work in the parking lot with no service."

→ Requires: full offline capability for the knowledge layer. Duress with SMS fallback. Presence that shows the wider network, not an empty local map — for her, seeing the country is the point.

Who takes watch

The watch needs someone who will stay awake, stay reachable and answer. That's a different aptitude from field work, and the roster splits accordingly.

Naturals: the Trainer (already the person newcomers call), the Medic (methodical, high standards, motivated by consequence), the Skeptic (vigilant, and watch gives his suspicion somewhere useful to go), and the Outpost — isolated from local field work but perfectly able to hold a board for operators three states away.

Situational: the Team Lead wants the board but must not treat it as command. The Quartermaster and Connector would cover shifts reliably.

No: the Heart shouldn't hold a post requiring dependability across her cycles. The Public Face is out most nights. The Ghost won't take responsibility for others, and shouldn't be asked.

The Convert is the interesting case. She has the best directory knowledge in the network, which makes her an outstanding Query responder — but a prepaid phone and an unstable schedule make a full shift unrealistic. Suggests watch should be shareable: someone can answer queries without holding the whole board.
